Mortimer is Professor Inkling's friend who has lots of different abilities. Being a Mimic Octopus, Mortimer has the ability to impersonate or mimic other creatures, bend his body into different shapes, or change his color, though he cannot squirt ink, unlike most other octopuses. Mortimer can impersonate a lionfish, sea snakes, a banded sole and many more creatures. He considers himself to be an actor and thinks of his impressions as performances, which makes Kwazii a little jealous (or scornful). In "The Octonauts and the Mimic Octopus," he helps Peso find the red algae in a Moray Eel's home, by distracting it with his impression of 3 poisonous Sea Snakes.
